Is it possible to make a flowfield editable?

I have a custom field added to Customer table, list, and card and the same field added to the Sales header and Sales Invoice. The field is flowfield with a lookup. When I go to the customer card, I can't edit the field even though I made sure to set Editable = true. But that doesn't seem to work.

I have the same question (0)

Not possible to edit a value of a lookup flow field.

You have some scenarios where a value of a flow field can be edited. F.example this is used in the budget functionality.

But when you lookup a value from a field in another table you can not edit the value.

    Hii,

You can't edit flow field because the flowfield compute while the running time in background.also the flow field refers the another table value which you can't edit directly..

    Thanks

Hi, No, this cannot be done. If you really want to do it, you can create a new field (New Value) and write the code to update other tables in the OnValidate trigger.

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

    Yes you can.

A flowfield, if you don't espicify the contraro (property editable = true) is allways editable.

But the table that this field calculates from needs special characteristics.

See Accounting budgets. This fields are editable, and they are calculated.

Thank you for your reply. What are these s[ecial characteristics?

If you make a flowfield, and you do not set it as Editable = false, when you try to validate a value, if the table origin of the flowfield do not acomplish the requerimets, it launches an autoexplanatori error:

The primary key in the XXXXXXXX table can contain only one field, and its type must be Integer.

A flowfield is not editable. There is a reason why it is not. A flowfield is basically an automatic calculation. If it is editable, how do you expect the system to automatically reverse calculated ? Seems like it will be prone to bugs.

Why do you need it to be editable anyway ?

    Sorry but you are wrong.

Try to make a table with an integer as primay key, and only this field as primary key, and then create a decimal or integer field in the same table.

Then in another table, create a flowfield linked in the calcformula to this previous table. Make the field editable, and set a value to this flowfield.

You'll see how it creates a register in the first (the original one of the flowfield) to justify the number you put in the flowfield.
