Too Many Full User Licenses

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have 35 full user licenses but we don't need all of them. Is it possible to save money by cancelling some of our licenses or maybe even re-selling them?

Rich is right. You can deactivate licenses and that would lower your annual maintenance cost. However, if you ever need the licenses again in the future, you will have to re-purchase them as brand new. Also, there are some restrictions on upgrading after deactivating licenses if you are on an older licensing model (prior to perpetual licensing).

Selling them is verboten(forbidden). You need to have your reseller submit a deactivation form.
