default description for Project - posting, ledger

Hello everybody,

This is my last chance...

We are running AX 2012 R3 CU8.

We would have liked to setup parameters (4,5,6) for transaction Type 'Project Posting Ledger'.

What I found in the SetFormElements method of TransactionTexts is this transaction is not supported Project - posting, ledger.

I was wondering, if there were another way to add parameters to this kind of defaultDescription

(of course I tried to modifiy the method by returning true instead of false in the method... but not possible to add reference Table and Reference Field)

Hope someone already found a solution

Hi Christophe,

I would expect that the project ID is a financial dimension.

If this is not the case then it might be a good idea having a discussion with your colleagues to add this financial dimension.

The project invoice number is not a parameter / field that you can add in the default descriptions without making a modification.

Yet, we have the standard voucher (%3) available, which allows you drilling through to the invoice.

I know that is not perfect but - in combination with a project findim - possibly a standard workaround that does not require coding.

In case of we use Project as Financial Dimension, I don't see how I could express it in the Default description's setup, because %1,%2,%3 are already in used and not updatable.

Could you give me some precision please ?

Hi Christophe,

The description and the financial dimension are both part of the voucher and you can analyze both elements together in GL, in reports, etc.

Because we don't have a parameter setting for the project id in the default descriptions, you can 'move' the project id into the financial dimensions and then analyze it when you investigate your vouchers.

That's what I meant.
