PO template displaying more comment that what is stored in database

Has anyone seen more line item comment being displayed on a report than you can find in the database? Specifically on the purchase order line item comment, I added the full comment text instead of the 4 lines to gain more of the comment, on the standard report I see exactly what is in the database but when the template is run and additional line displays, very strange. It happens to be where the page breaks so the line item comment is printing on the second page but the item starts on the first page. I don't have much experience with the paging and how to manipulate but was thinking that might be part of the problem because the data is simply not in the db.
