Hello,

I am installing AX 2012 R3 CU12 on my system(Window 7 professional). While installing client component , it gives error while validating for Window Identity Foundation(WIF) not installed. So downloaded it from link provided by AX setup but its not being installed and giving below error:

I know this is not directly related to AX but i believe someone had faced this issue while installing AX and can help me to get out from it.

Please suggest.

Thanks to all. It is resolved by re-installing window 7, might be vinod your solution would work but it's not worked for me.

@Vilmos: Your approach is perfect & i agreed wth you but here we have all isolated environment on window 7.

Hi Visvash,

Ax will configure the WIF package with the help windows update, We have faced same issue on the machine where windows update was disabled, So we have build the new windows 7 SP1 machine with windows update enabled and we were able to install WIF component successfully.

Thanks Vinod, I already tried this one but not working this as well. The wif file is in same folder as you mentioned but AX didn't able to configure it.

Hi Visvash,

We cannot install windows identity foundation on windows 7 machine by enabling windows feature from turn windows feature on or off option in control panel, we must install it manually.

If you have observed we will get the option to configure windows identity foundation feature by selecting configure check box option from prerequisite validation page, at this time ax prerequisite checker will look for the wif package located at the dynamics AX setup folder. you can find the package in bellow path at the ax setup folder.

"Dynamics AX\AX setup\Redist\WIFKB974405"

So prerequisite checker will get the package from above folder and will configure the feature through windows update.

try Installing windows 6.1 WIF package specific to your operating system architecture.

Thanks Vilmos, I picked the correct one .exe (window 7 64 bit ) from out of four .exe file , other are for Window server and window 32 bit.

Yes, its merely the window feature. Anyways, I am trying to install OS again might be it could resolve my problem.

Again, what you are trying is not supported, no wonder you are having issues.

Refer to the following discussion. Maybe you are doing it incorrectly, WIF should be installed through the Windows features normally. Or if you do it manually, you get a different version, but it also matters which one do you pick, since there are 4 in the download package.

If you still have installation troubles, then the best solution is to turn to the appropriate forums, which is the Windows OS forums.

I appreciated your suggestion Vilmos, thanks but i am getting this Prerequisite error while installing AX Client on WIndow 7 SP1.

Thanks Rizwan, I did :

1. Enable Windows update - already enabled and installed updates regularly

2. Start windows installer (if stopped)- It's stopped but i started this service

3. Restart windows update service if failed to update- restarted.

Then i tried to install manually window Identity foundation update but its not being installed gives the same error attached in my thread.

please suggest .

1.Enable Windows update

2.Start windows installer (if stopped)

3.Restart windows update service if failed to update.

It seems like you are making extra hops over something that should just work straight away. Like I said above, do a dual boot or just install a server OS on your PC or on a VM.

Occam's razor still applies, always the simplest answer is the best answer..

I am trying to install manually WIF update downloaded but it gives error as shown in screenshot(attached in my thread above). Yes, might be window update could resolve this , let me try and will update you. If you have any other suggestion please feel free to post.
