Company upgrade changes recovery mode of database

Has anyone encountered the problem when upgrading from GP9 to GP2010 the issue that when the upgrade runs it changes the recovery mode of the database from "FULL" to "SIMPLE" ?

There is a table created at the onset of the company database upgrade named duRecoveryModel.  The value in the table is "FULL" , looking in the SQL Server log you can see the set database recovery to 'SIMPLE' statement.  This causes a problem since transaction logs can no longer be backed up throughout the upgrade process.

Why and how is this happening.  I have not seen this problem in previous upgrades.

Thank you for any insight.

I have done quite a few upgrades from GP 9 to GP 2010 and do not recall seeing this particular issue before.

Victoria, I was holding out hope that you had seen this problem.  It is strange. Even if when the upgrade fails due to the log filling up and I alter the database to set it back to Recovery mode Full, [and take a full backup] I can watch the SQL Log file and see that right after I restart the upgrade the company database is set back to Recovery mode SIMPLE.

Our company database is so large that creating a transaction log large enough to do an entire upgrade without backing up the logs is just not practical.  This behavior is baffling.   --  I hope there is someone out there that has successfully dealt with this problem.
