Birthday Appointment - CRM to Outlook with Reminder

Hello,

I am trying to create a birthday appointment which will sync to Outlook.  I know the default Birthday field in CRM contact entity will Sync with Outlook Contact Birthday field.  However, this will create a recurring all day event with a default reminder of 15 mins or the default reminder as configured in Outlook.

I would like to:

 - custom birthday field in CRM Contact

 - sync to Outlook

 - create Recurring appointment

 - all day event

 - reminder 15 mins.

I have not found any solution that allows this.  It dumbfounding that Outlook does not allow for a custom birthday reminder.

I know there is code that can change the default for birthday fields.  However I am looking:

 - to package this in CRM

 - simple solution, easy to deploy to entire organization

 - do not want to rely on outside of the solution

 - rather not deploy custom code for every outlook user

- do not want to create a workflow that will continually be working for 500+ contacts in CRM

There must be a way!!

Thank you in advance.

    Hi

Can I suggest your look at the approach mentioned here:
    http://alexanderdevelopment.net/post/2013/05/19/scheduling-recurring-dynamics-crm-workflows-with-fetchxml/

When you first fill in the birthday date, you create this years appointment instance in CRM. This appointment would then have to be owned by the owner of the contact so it synchronizes with thier outlook.

You can have a monthly recurrence of the above solution that checks for birthdays that happened in this month, it then goes and creates the appointment reminder for the next year.
This way you have 1 recurring workflow that fires for all contacts and manages the appointments.

The reminder of the appointment will use the user's outlook default reminder.

Lucas Alexander has provided the source as well as a unmanaged solution so you would not have to write any code yourself.

I've used his approach many times for this sort of thing.
