Unable to delete an account with financial history

I have a new Company that I have created from an existing company.  I'd like to change a segment number, however, it wont like me because there's a SINGLE posted $1 journal entry associated with the Company that has been posted to history.  The entry is meaningless, how do I delete this historical entry so that I can change the segment associated with it?

You can delete it from backend and change the Segment number.

SELECT * FROM GL30000 WHERE ACTINDX in (SELECT ACTINDX FROM GL00105 WHERE ACTNUMST ='Enter Your Account Number')

If the above query is returning the records, then run the below query to remove the unwanted journal from history.

DELETE GL30000 WHERE ACTINDX in (SELECT ACTINDX FROM GL00105 WHERE ACTNUMST ='Enter Your Account Number')

    Hope this helps!!!

Soma provides one option.  Another option is to use the 'Remove History' Utility under Financial Utilities, if the transaction is in an Historical year.  If it's in an open year, then you'll need to use Soma's scripts, except substitute GL20000 for GL30000.

If it's in a closed (history) year, I highly recommend Frank's option. My rule is to always do it through the user interface if you can. If all you want to do is change the number, why not use the PSTL tools to accomplish the feat?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

You could use the Account Modifier tool in Professional Services Tools Library (PSTL) to change the account number; no need to delete anything.

I would very strongly advise against deleting any entries from a table of posted or history transactions.

I attempted running the Remove History utility, however, our GP is not set for a historical year/period.  That being the case, what route should I take to delete account postings in the 2014 year?  Use Soma's method?

I attempted to run the Remove History utility, however, our GP doesn't have a historical year PLUS this change need be made in a closed period.  That being the case, what route should I take to delete account postings in the 2014 year?  Use Soma's method on the back-end.  As stated above I used the user interface aka Franks option (remove history/other...customer, sales, receivable utility) and that didn't work.

Matt, what exactly are you trying to accomplish?  IS it just the one account segment change? Is this a new production database or a test database?
