Hello,

how to plan purchasing of trading items for next year using sales quantities from previous year in Business Central ?

how to achieve this?

as an example:
we have the following quantities sold in 2023:
Item A ->
MonthQuantity
Jan 2330
Feb 2320
Mar 2310
and so on ...

We need the system to suggest the purchasing of the same for 2024 by reading all the sales for all the items.

Regards,
David

The Business Central planning engine (MRP, MPS) does not take into accounted posted sales. It only takes into account existing demand which can come from two things - open sales documents and forecasts. To plan purchasing based on sales quantities from the previous year, you will have to create a demand forecast yourself - Create a Demand Forecast - Business Central | Microsoft Learn. The forecast would be based on your sales data from the previous year.

    Hi Valentin,

so if i add for item A the table above: e.g. 30 in Jan 23 and run the full planning, the system should suggest 30 for Jan 24 (if starting date and ending date is: 01/01/24 and 01/31/24).

Note: which setup should be done on the item card?

    Regards,
    David

as suggested, you need to create a forecast in BC, then use that forecast when running item planning or requisition worksheet. the forecast will be treated as demand and will net against sales order.
