Hi,

I'm working on our sandbox environment and trying to use Warehouse Management.

For locations I have defined in Warehouse Management, selecting location in PO, PO receipt registration, movement journal, mobile device purchase receipt, etc. generates the below error:

"Movement not valid on user locations except by the system."

Any idea what I might have done wrong?

Have you defined the type/profile for USER locations in Warehouse management parameters?

This type will be assigned to locations automatically generated by the system to represent workers.

This type should not be used for actual storage locations

Thanks Ivan.

I changed the location type and profile of my location from USER. I don't get the error any more.

It's weird thought, since no apparent config is different from USER and the new location profile that I have used.

Hi Vijay,

Create a Location Profile called 'User'. Make sure Licence plate tracking is enabled (and probably allow Mixed items and Inventory statuses too).

In Warehouse management parameters, assign this location profile to the 'User location'.

Do not use this location profile on any locations you create yourself.

we have that same error but in a different situation. For some reason, there is a quantity left in a user location. We want to transfer it to a real location but it is not possible. Not with transfer journal, not with adjustment journal.

Movement not valid on user locations except by the system." We understand, the system manages these locations, If a user could intervene, it would mess up the pick/put logic. But now the question becomes: how to ever get this user location cleaned up?At the end of the day, there should never be inventory in a user location I would think.

Hi Evert,

If you get inventory that is stuck in a User location, we have had success with the following method. It should be done when you can be sure that no-one is using the hand helds (we do it during maintenance windows when the system is locked from all users).

In Warehouse management parameters, change the 'User location' parameter to something else.

Move the inventory off of the user location using a Transfer journal.

Change the 'User location' parameter back to what it was.

Hi Guy,

I am having the same problem and I tried what you suggested by changing the 'User' location parameter to something else but doing so, i got the error message: "Aisle does not exist in warehouse DC. Field 'Aisle' must be filled in.

Any other suggestions?
