Unable to import Template

I have printed an XML file out of Report Writer in GP 2015. I generated a template using the Template Generator but I am unable to import the template into GP.

Hello Carillon,

We will need a bit more information to help on this one. What error message are you getting when trying to import the template into GP?

A really common cause of the issue is confusion between modified and original templates. In the template maintenance window "ORIGINAL" versions of a template refer to unmodified reports in report writer whereas "MODIFIED" is for reports that are modified is report writer. (If you are using a modified report, the template needs to be the "modified" version whereas if the report is not modified you need to use the "Original" template option.

The error message is The Template you selected cannot be added to this report. It does not matter if I select modified or not. I still cannot import.

it sounds like the then that the template you are importing does not match the reprt you are trying to import to.

Try the following.

1) in template maintenance select the correct report.

2) Click the new button.

3) Select th eoption "From existing tempalte".

4) Select the default.

5) Name the template and create it.

6) Next modify it slightly (add some text to the header in an empty field.

7) See if you can reimport this one without issue.
