How can you change the Status of an Order

I want Sales Managers to change the Status of an Order to 'Submitted' so the Order has the Status Reason 'In Progress'

How can I do this; I added the Status to the form and it did not work...

Now I cannot remove Status from the form... now I have a folder at the bottom of the form called useless junk  where it sits

    Hi,

Unfortunately you can't add additional options to status field, you can modify status reason but not status, as a workaround you can setup a custom option set where you have your custom status and then with the help of workflow you can set mapping with status reason field.

    Thanks

    Hi

I don't want to modify the Statuses: I am happy with them.

I want to update an Order record to have the existing out the box Status of  'Submitted'  - but I cannot see how to do this. I can Change it to Fulfilled or Cancelled - there are buttons for that

    Hi Andrew,

I don't think there's a UI way to do that out of the box, but you can add one easy enough. Create a simple workflow that runs on Order and changes the status. Your users can run the workflow to update to Submitted.

If you want a button to do it, create that same workflow and add a button that kicks it off (no code solution for that here: ribbonworkbench.uservoice.com/.../132235-create-a-workflow-short-cut-ribbon-button-no-code)

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as a Verified answer.

    Thanks,

     Aiden

Also Andrew, if you can't remove that field from the form you can change its visibility so the users won't see it. It's not as good as removing it, but your users won't know the difference.

    Thanks Aiden;

I thought I'd have to go into the ribbon workbench... looks like it is time to get my hands dirty

Just in case this helps anyone; changing the status via workflow works.

However the Status of 'Submitted' removes a lot of buttons from the Order - making doing this useless for me.

Back to the drawing board - think I'll just change the State 1 Status Reason names

"Submitted" is not, if I recall correctly, an OOB status. It is a status added if you have installed the solution for the Dynamics Connector, to enable you to use the button to "Submit" an Order so that is is flagged as being ready to be carrier across to your ERP system.

So yes, if you do manage to set this status somehow, it will lock down the record - it now "belongs to" ERP and will only get updated if it is changed there (eg order is cancelled).

Submitted is a salesorder statecode going back at least to 2011, with the status of In Progress. It makes sense how that would indicate the ERP is taking over.
