How to remove or uninstall HR Module in GP 2015

We are running GP 2015 R2 and have just installed the Human Resources module in a test environment. (This is not the HR and Payroll module.) After testing, we wanted to remove the module but every time we attempt, it throws errors. Some relate to HR SQL tables, others to ASI_Favorites. Is there a fool proof method for removing the HR module other than just deselecting it from the GP add/remove program applet? We've also deselected it from the GP Registration window, but the same errors appear.

    Hi John,

Unfortunately installing a new module in GP isn't simply adding a few files to your GP client and/or checking some boxes in the registration or options setup..  It does more than often also create a whole bunch of SQL objects, which may or may not be easy to identify and remove..

That's why you usually setup a 'TEST' environment to test those modules out thoroughly before putting them into production, where it is often very difficult or impossible to remove fully from a system.

In your launch file DYNAMICS.SET the HR module (base) is identified as the product ID 414.. So if you remove the corresponding lines (+ references to the dictionaries), it will no longer show up in GP, and the smartlists.

However, the corresponding SQL objects will no go away and you'd have to deal with them thru other ways.

In a TEST environment, I'd just reload the system & company DB's from a previous backup.

If you own GPPT (aka GP PowerTools) it has a function to validate inconsistencies in GP & fix them.

Beat - fortunately, this "is" our TEST environment. Now that they have decided not to use the Module, we wanted to remove it. I will try changing the SET file as you suggest. If we restore the test company database to a time when the HR module was not installed along with the SET file change, will that correct this or are there still SQL objects in the Dynamics DB as well?

    Thank you kindly.

John, Once you remove it from SET file, I think you can use  SQL maintenance in GP to remove tables and SPs from DYNAMICS and Company databases. But make sure you have a backup. Alternatively you can restore the DB as you mentioned and then just remove objects from DYNAMICS or you can refresh DYNAMICS as well if needed. Finally you can run checklinks if you used SQL maintenance option to remove the objects.

    Yes John,

That's correct,  restoring the backup will put you back in the "pre" HR module status,  and simply remove the entry from the launch file to avoid error messages.
