Unit Conversion of items is causing issues when Receiving and Invoicing

Currently our Receiving Department goes on to google when we receive in an item (to determine what the conversion should be), as we purchase some items in lbs. and inventory them in kg. The issue we run into is it never really matches up, which a) does not allow us to receive in an item, or b) when we go to Invoice we run into problems because we have everything on 3-way matching. I found the Calculator for Units and am wondering if there is a way to utilize this option when Receiving the item so that it converts to exactly what AX thinks it should be and flows down to A/P without any issues. This is happening on several of our Items.

Why aren't you putting Lb on the Purchase order and using the inventory unit of measure of Kg and letting the system do that unit of measure conversion for you?  Isn't your invoices in Lb from the vendor?

Maybe I explained it wrong. Lb. is on the Purchase Order. Here's an example. AX only allows us to receive in the product with 2 decimal points. So if we order 100 lbs. the conversion to kg is 45.3592. The third decimal is making it round but if we enter in 45.35 or 45.36 we get an error because of only having 2 decimal places but in this case, it needing to be 3.

Then why not make it 3?

AX doesn't allow us to change it to 3...only 2...unless we do not know how to change it to 3.

Organisation administration > Setup > Units > Units.

    set the 'Decimal precision'.

You can use more than 2 dp, but remember the default display on inventory transactions and on-hand is 2dp. If you use more in your units you should think about increasing the dp's displayed on inventory transactions. Otherwise you could get a transaction that is displayed as 0.00 but is actually 0.004.

We've tried more dp in the past (before my time) and they ran into the same issue...if they had 3dp it rounded and they should have went to 4dp, etc. Here's another example. We have a PO with 10,917lbs. Our receiver chooses Update Line, Register. IF the lbs. do not equal the kg he gets the error. AX is saying the kg should be 4912.65...the conversion online says 4951.8679...so once he receives in the item...there is a delivery remainder.
