DIXF/DMF - Manually create custom entity

(0) ShareShare

Hi,

I'm new to DIXF and AOT. Can you give me the detailed steps to follow to create manually a custom entity, for example to populate the AX table INVENTTESTGROUPMEMBER. It's not possible to create an entity on that table using the wizard.

Thanks,

    Hi Torkia,

I have split the thread from the original where you asked your question as the topic is different. It is possible to create manually a new entity, but I do not have issues using this table in the wizard. Can you provide your current AX 2012 version (e.g. AX 2012 R2 with CU6) and provide any errors you get from AX?

    Hi André,

Using the Wizard, I can create an entity on the INVENTTESTGROUP. When I tried  on the INVENTTESTGROUPMEMBER, I cannot find it from the display menu item.

How can I have the AX version I`m working on?

To find the version, open the Windows rich client and use the key combination [Alt + H] to open the Help menu, then in that menu click on About Microsoft Dynamics AX.

I just find it from the AOT: AX2012 R3

Is it from Ax 2012 R2?

    Hi Torkia,

For the Display Menu Item Step, maybe you can create a new one pointing to a correct form. This is no a vital step, as it is only to make a "View Details" link from the Stage Table records to the Target Form.

I tried to create a new display item, but the form is already used by DMFINVENTTESTGROUP entity. That form has two datasources: InventTestGroup and InventTestGroupmember.

Can I use the InventTestGroup display item to create DMFInventTestGroupMember entity?

    Hi Torkia,

Yes, you can use this menu item. This opens the form with the InventTestGroupMember table if you need to view the target data from the history form.

    Hi André,

Thank you. Finally, I have created the custom entity on the table InventTestGroupMember.

Now, I need to add a method that calculate the UPPERTOLERANCE and LOWERTOLERANCE. Please can you show me where to fing the code used by the form and Then the steps to add that method to the entity.

    Thanks again.
