Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

Inaccessibility to GP

Posted on by 470

Please, I have two office locations and one main server for  Microsoft Dynamics GP domiciled at one of the locations. I discovered that whenever I move one of the client systems that has Microsoft GP installed on it from one office location to another, users are always unable to log-in to GP. I always have to first log-in as sysadmin(sa), then reset the password of the user before he or she will be able to log in.

I will be glad if I can have suggestions to correct this anomaly permanently.

This sounds like you have the ODBC setup differently; the key field is the Server field which needs to be identical on all PCs.

The reason is that the Server field is used while encrypting the password, so when the user logs in on a machine with different ODBC settings, the password encrypts differently and doesn't match.
