Converting SDO files to DLL

Posted on by 75

Has anyone created a dll that contains all the SDO files to be referenced by the project?  We have several developers so we thought it might save time by making a DLL and making one change instead of when there is a change in the SDO file, it won't break all our custom apps, which we have several.  Please let me know if any one has had success doing this.

Thanks!

We have converted to using a dll (I know this topic is old, but what the heck).  makes managing those DSOs MUCH easier (we have over a hundred).

That is true, however, if you make a change to the SDO you need to recompile every app and we have several.

An alternative technique I use is to put all SDO files into a shared folder, and then add them as linked files in the various Visual Studio projects. That way any updates to an sdo file in the shared folder are reflected in all of the projects that refer to it. It makes deployment easier as the entire screen will be a single stand-alone executable.

To add the sdos as linked files:

Right Click on project folder >> Add >> Existing Item >> Change the Add button drop down to 'Add as link'
