Deploying USD using Configuration Migration Tool

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

We are having no end of issues using the configuration migration tool to move our USD config from one environment to another i.e. dev to QA, UAT etc. The tool itself says that it successfully completes, but when we look into the destination environment, config has been missed / carried out incorrectly, meaning that USD does not run. We have removed all existing config from the destination before deploying, but still no joy. Wondering if anyone else has experienced trouble using this tool, or more importantly what experience people have had with deploying USD across environments and what has worked consistently for them?

We are using Dynamics 365 and USD v 2.1

We have a ticket in with MS but this is a slow going process.

Thanks in advance,

Russ

so far I have used it numerous amount of times (both onprem & online), I never faced a problem except for the first time when I started using it. I've prepared a detailed blog on what are all the things that need to be taken care ansrikanth.com/.../transfer-usd-configurations-using-configurationmigration-tool . Hope this helps !!

I tried with D365/USD v2.0 and it worked. Are you migrating with the help of USDDefaultSchema.xml (located at UII SDK package (.exe)\UII\USD Developer Assets\USD Configuration Tool Schema folder) file?

    Could you try following:

Use a custom package for Unified Service Desk: Create a custom package for Unified Service Desk to include the exported data along with the files in one of the sample Unified Service Desk packages, and then deploy the custom package on the target Dynamics 365 instance using the Package Deployer tool. More information: Import configuration data by using a custom package for Unified Service Desk
