Characteristics for Lot Numbers

Hi:

We'd like to enter an industry standard "ID" (number) into a field within Item Tracking Lines, for any lot number selected in the Production Order Components window.

Doing so would help the users identify the correct material to select.

They will want to be able to see this ID, before production, to plan out any recipe "tweaks" for the quantity of items on hand for this ID.

Is this possible, or would having such a column in this window be a customization?
