The GP login window auto populates with a User's ID and password Why?

The GP login window populates with a User's ID and password that isn't the user that is logging in to GP. Also without further user input it continues to log in under that user's ID that was populated. Now when system finishes login to GP the user can change to correct user. Some background information, the user is clicking on GP icon from the Citrix Application window. Depending on volume the user can get pointed to several servers. I don't believe it is happening on all servers.

are you runnign GP 2010? there is a feature of remember user id and password there, as well as remember company, try to have that disabled and see if that clears the error, or on the other hand could it be possible that you have Fastpath product?

    Please let us know

Since you are on GP 2010, the user login information and a company can be "remembered" by the system.  You can remove the remembered settings by clicking on the User ID in the lower left corner of the screen and unchecking "Remember user and password".  Then click on the company name in the lower left of the screen and uncheck "Remember this company"

Citrix is part of the reason you are seeing another users ID when logging onto the Citrix server.  The SQLLastUser field (last user logged in to GP) is stored in the dex.ini file.  If you have a desktop install of GP, you have your own dex.ini file.  If you are logging in through Citrix or a terminal server, you have a dex.ini that is shared by everyone hitting that server.  Therefore, the user ID will change based on the last person who logged into Dynamics on that particular Citrix or terminal server.

    Philip,

Sorry as mentioned in earlier reply I'm on GP10 not 2010. Also no users have local install on workstations. Everybody logins using Citrix.

    Cheers,

    Bruce

Is there a login macro configured on some of the servers?

If there is, it will be defined in the Target field of the shortcut (assuming it's not some sort of Citrix config)

In Omni Tools>Omni Login window the checkbox beside Enable Automatic Login System was checked and the User ID and password was completed. So I have unchecked the box and the issue is resolved. Still not sure how that specific user's information was updated in those fields and saved. But since it is disabled now it should not happen in the future.

Check the Dex.ini file on your application server/terminal servers and see if 'Remember User = TRUE'.  if so, change the value to FALSE.  That should prevent saving the previous user's ID in the login window.

Thanks Frank, changing the Dex.ini file to FALSE worked perfect for me.
