how to import Released Products from legalentity A to legal entity B in ax2012

Hi all,

we need to import Released Products from legal entity A to legal entity B ..

in below article saying can't import release products by dat-def files (Definition Group)

can we import by  dat-def files (Definition Group) or is there any standard methods to do this..

kindly suggest on this..

    if both legal entities are on same AX, you don't need any dat-def file.

    you can do any of following

    1) Release same products in other legal entity (where its not released)

    2) Use DIXF

    underneath tables which i exported from legal entity A through definition groups with default setup..

    RetailInventTable
    InventFiscalLIFOGroup
    InventItemInventSetup
    InventItemPurchSetup
    InventItemSalesSetup
    InventTableModule

    now i switched to legal entity B and then imported by choosing the below options..

    a)Open System Administration\Common\Data export/import\Import

    b)Select the .dat file which is exported from legal entity A

    c)Switch to tab ‘Advanced’ and enable following options: a)  Include shared tables: Yes b)Update existing record: yes

    all the records being imported..am wondering  as i read some articles which saying product data import through definition groups is not possible

    we did't have any issues so far..

    may of those tables have 'SaveDataPerCompany' = No

    e.g. EcoResProduct

    now if you will reimport it, that means there can be duplication of data. and if you marked 'delete records from destination if already exists' that means inconsistency of data because EcoResProduct.RecId is being used as foreign key many places

    one smooth way can be, selecting all products and releasing those to another legal entity.

    Now export InventTable details which are company specific from Source Company and update these in destination system using excel add-in (provided that item number is same in both legal entities, otherwise hard work is needed if item number is different in both legal entities)  

    another way can be creation of processing group for DMF and export it from entity and finally import it into other entity.

    make sure both companies have same setup such as item group etc. otherwise there will be issues at time when it goes in InventTable
