Using Contact point consent status in a outbound marketing segment

We are using a outbound marketing segment as the basis for most of our other segments and one of the criteria in that segments refers to a marketing list that contains all contacts that've opted in. 
We have now migrated our consent management to real time and would like to use the opt in statuses for various purposes/ topics in the above mentioned segment in outbound marketing. 
I've added the consent table in the data configuration setup and I can select attributes from it when editing the segment. However, when I do the estimation gives me 0 members even though I know we have a lot of opt in. I know there should be a relation to the contact entity, and I can select one when adding the consent attributes but still I get 0 members in my segment. Also when clicking the related entities map, I see a connection between the consent and contact table. 
How am I able to use the consent attributes in the outbound marketing segment without having to recreate it in real time?
