Create Quick Campaign in Custom Entity

Hi guys,

I have this entity in which I hold data about the users, and their usernames. I'm accessing the data trought the Advanced Find, but I would also like to add them to a Quick Campaign /In order to add phone calls, and /. I created a Many to Many connection between my Custom Entity and the Campaign Entity, but it didn't work.

I also tried to add a Quick Campaign to my custom entity, via the Workbench, but it didn't work also.

Have you encountered this problem before, and do you guys know any workarounds that would allow me to add Quick Campaign button to my Custom entity while in the Advanced find?

Thanks in Advance,

Georgi B.

    Georgi,

If you need Prompt Response, you can use Dialog, instead.

But the problem here Dialog can only work for single record at once.

Another approach that doesn't require customize ribbon nor web resource.

Can you have the required fields, put in the custom entity form.

And add them under one new section separately then you can ask the user to do bulk Edit then after user save. Then your workflow run, creating activity then after that clear out all fields?

    Thank you.

RE: Create Quick Campaign in Custom Entity

    Hi Aileen,

I was not able to create the quick campaign option for my custom entity, but instead I created an on-demand workflow to start a conversation/phone call with a selected item/person.

This has its disadvantages too. I can't create a field that works like a pop in this workflow. I would like to prompt the users so they would be able to set a subject or something to those phone calls, but it seems like there isn't one.

    I appreciate your comments Aileen!

    Thank you.

RE: Create Quick Campaign in Custom Entity

    Hi Georgi,

Okay, so your objective is not to create quick campaign to distribute custom activity entity. Your point here is to create quick campaign like Contact and Account, I think it is possible, but you need to pass the parameters, change the parameter to the Contact Id.

Which is complicated here Georgi. If you need to see the function you can find in the ribbon.js file.

    Thank you.

RE: Create Quick Campaign in Custom Entity

Thank you for your responses, Aileen and Mahadeo!

And Aileen, yes - I'm referring to the Create Quick Campaign button. I noticed that if you use the Advanced Find for Contacts per say, when the results load up you get this option to create a Quick Campaign from the buttons in the Advanced Find.

This is what I want for my custom entity also. My entity is not an Activity Entity, but each record of it holds specific data about a contact, and a lookup field to the specific contact.

So instead of looking at every records, my client wants to be able to create Quick Campaign with the records.

I will look into the links that you shared.

    Thank you, Georgi B.

RE: Create Quick Campaign in Custom Entity

    Hi Georgi,

Are you referring the 'Create Quick Campaign' button in the Marketing List record form?

And your custom entity is referring the replacement of Marketing List or it is an Activity Entity?

To be honest so far I know you cannot create quick campaign to custom entity and cannot use the copy button function.

The concept of Quick Campaign in the Marketing List here is just to get the Marketing List ID then open dialog, choose activity to be the channel to distribute, after that get the Member then distributed to the selected List Members the activities.

The dialog location is this (if you are using onpremise) you can take a look but do not modify this:

    [yourCRMWebphysicalfolder]  /MA/MiniCampaign/MiniCampaign.aspx

And this is will only accept the Marketing List ID and its member I think.

Basically you can create programmatically, see this example:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg328526.aspx

The quickcampaign just using the bulk operation to create multiple activities distributed to members.

    se4rbt.org/.../how-to-programmatically-create-a-quick-campaign-in-ms-dynamics-crm

So I suggest you to create a custom button then get the members of your custom entity.

But I am not sure you can use User or not, the users you are referring is the system user entity? Correct?

Because the concept of Quick Campaign is to distribute to the member of list, which is the member of Marketing List is only Contact, Account, and Lead.

    Thank you.
