1) Is there a way inside GP to prevent any cost changes from anywhere outside Item Maintenance screen?
2) I am trying to write a trigger that accepts the cost update only if the change was done form Item Maintenance screen otherwise rollback the changes.
How do I figure out inside the trigger which window the change came form?
Please suggest. Thanks

You have two costs in the Item Card, Standard Cost and Current Cost, if you are using Perpetual valuation method then the only screen that affects the standard cost is the item maintenance.
I am trying to find a case why such a request might be needed, but I cannot find anything in my mind, can you please clarify why do you need to do this? There must be another way to do so.
