    Hi,

You are right - unfortunately this relationship cannot be customised due to the out of the box linkage between opportunity quote.

    Hope this answers your question

    Hi zmk,

It is default relationship which can't be customized

Please refer for list of default relationships of CRM technet.microsoft.com/.../dn531076.aspx

Except someone has a hack(which i also want to hear:) ), we can't customize this relationship.

Usually a opportunity owner should have owner ship on all quotes corresponding to that opportunity. Is your business scenario is different?

The only way to stop this would be to create a new lookup to System User & Team on the quote. When the owner of the quote is created you would set the relevant field. Then I guess you could use a plugin or a Custom Workflow activity to go and change all child quotes when the Opportunity is re-assigned.

The only problem would be if you automatically populate these fields on assign of a quote record, as these fields when then update with the owner of the opportunity, if you can get your users to fill them out manually that should work.

You will need to do some testing no doubt as the order in which the underlying processes fire in will be key.

    Good Luck

    Thanks for  explaining business view.

Here is what i am thinking to address this problem :

cascadeassign of Opportunity internally calls UpdateRequest on Quote.

    In preUpdate of Quote

    1. we can validate parentcontext  which should not be null to be sure that it is fired from other parent operation

    2. Also, do validation on depth which should be in 2 in this case

    3. get pre-image details  of Quote record and modify owner with old owner.

I am sharing my idea and it is not a comprehensive solution.

post the solution once you achieve it :)

    Regards

    Hi folks,

I have a similar question - but the other way around.

Do you know a way to automatically set the quote owner to the owner of the opportunity (when it's being created)?

When our sales assistances people create a quote from an opportunity, they always are the owner of the quote and have to change it back to the name which is the owner of the opportunity.

I guess this might be done with a workflow but I don't know how to set it up. :-O

Thank you so much for your help!

    regards

    Sabine
