Hi guys,

I am having difficulties deleting a connection between two contacts. It is a CRM 2015 on premise server. Can delete contacts no problem, but not connects. The full log I am getting is below. Anyone got any ideas?

A couple of things to try:

    1. According to a couple of blogs:

The reason for this error is because in the pre-create of the plugins, you are changing the owner of the records to some teams based on some business logic. Hence you are setting the ownerid field in the pre-create plugin. the code works fine with 2013 SP1. However it fails in CRM 2015.

Moving this code to post-create and executing the assign request resolves this issue. This issue was found in the First Access version however they were hoping the RTM version of CRM 2015 would have resolved it.

Otherwise these blogs (which all give the same solution) may help you resolve the issue:

    debajitcrm.wordpress.com/.../tips-trick-identify-which-for-your-plugins-are-running-under-impersonation

    debajitcrm.wordpress.com/.../dynamics-crm-2015-error-changing-security-attributes-is-not-allowed-in-stage-20-plugins

    2. If that's not your issue then try this:

What version of 2015 are you on?  If it's not the Update 0.1 then it's possible Update 0.1 has resolved this issue.

Update 0.1 has resolved the following issues:

    • Cannot Save or Delete Connections when Team Templates are removed.

    • Attempting to update a Connection entity record that does not have a Connection Role defined results in an error.

    • Error deleting Connections when using Azure plugins or Workflows.

Given that, if you're not on it I'd try an upgrade.

Great, thanks mscrmba! Upgrading the server did the trick.

I also have another issue that you may be able to help me with? I am getting the "Only items in the default Microsoft Outlook store can be promoted to Microsoft CRM" error message. I have tried untracking the items, and also tried deleting them from outlook, however every time I start outlook I get the popups. I can't seem to get rid of them. I have even uninstalled CRM for outlook and then reinstalled.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Hi Luke,

Are you on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 for Microsoft Office Outlook (Outlook Client) the 2015 version?  07.00.0000.3543

    www.crmanswers.net/.../resources-for-crm-developers.html

If you have two mailboxes this may resolve it for you:

Go to Control panel ->mail -> Data Files Tab

Select the mailbox (other than one selected already) and set it to default .

Close and open outlook and try to track the item now.

If not, a number of people are having this issue since upgrading to Update 0.1 (and there seems to be no solution as yet):

    *  In another deployment they only get the error when their ARCHIVE data file is in Outlook.

The same issue was found way back in CRM 4.0  I can't guarantee that this will be at all relevant but it might give you some things to troubleshoot:

    blogs.msdn.com/.../tracking-synchronization-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm-4-0-outlook-client-might-fail-if-you-are-using-the-outlook-shared-inbox-functionality.aspx

Sorry if the upgrade has solved one issue, but has just introduced another for you....

Ok, I've figured out what has been happening, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

So, we are using office 365 with outlook, and the CRM dynamics outlook add-in. We manage room bookings through outlook, so each room has its own calendar and mailbox (for responses to meeting requests). We have been tracking appointments by right clicking an appointment in outlook and choosing "set regarding" and then selecting the contact (we do it this way because we do not send the meeting request to the contact).

If the appointment has a room booking associated with it, the tracking also ends up being associated with the room's calendar, and the meeting request email response in the rooms mailbox is also tracked. These tracked items are therefore not in the "default Microsoft Outlook store".

    Does that make sense?

I have no idea how we can get around this, and continue to track appointments. Any ideas?

    Luke

Hi Luke - this might help (but no guarantees):

You can load resources (which have calendars and email addresses) into CRM.

(This can work well if everyone is using CRM.)

    Look under Settings>Service Management>Facilities/Equipment

Hi mscrmba, we just did a feasibility run of upgrade from 2011 to 2013 SP1 to 2015 update 0.1. Problem is still there. We cannot change owner in PreOperation stage of Create message. We have quite a custom developed core solution based on that capability in 2011, which seems not possible anymore without investing a big deal by adjusting the plugins code. I cannot however understand the reason MS has blocked this :(. PreOperation stage of Create message is the least that should be possible. The stage and message combination of this is the lightest (least time consuming way) to set correct owner on record, without adding entries to POA giant behind the scenes

This issue was found in the First Access version however everyone was hoping the RTM version of CRM 2015 would have resolved it.  However, according to your trial, to date it appears the issue is still there in CRM 2015.

Only option at present may be to move this code to post-create and execute the assign request.

Does anyone with access to the Beta version know if CRM 2016 is resolving this issue? (or is that still under NDA wraps?)
