GP 2013 Won't load purchasing home page

When I try to go to the Purchasing splash page in GP 2013 I am getting the error message: Value cannot be null.  Parameter name: titleValue

The page never loads.  I am only getting this error on the purchasing home page, the other modules work fine.

When I try to close GP I get the error message: Background process is running: Exit Aborted.  I checked the process monitor and there are not processes running.  If I don't try to open the purchasing page, GP will close fine.

This morning this was not an issue.  It only started happening after I made a back of PROD and copied it to TEST.  I am getting this in both the GP companies.  The GP SQL server is the only place with the GP application right now.  (Going live 4/1/13).

I uninstalled and reinstalled the GP application on the SQL server but I am still getting the same error message.  I am still able to access the various purchasing windows through the top menu.

Anyone have any ideas?  I'm stumped.

Also, I'm logged in to the computer as an administrator and into GP as sa.

I had a client experience this issue, and Kiwi's suggestion about Customizing the Area Page and unmarking the phantom section resolve the problem, at least for now.  Just be sure to also switch to another Area Page before attempting to exit GP.  Until we did that, the problem persisted.

It is also nice to have the SQL script in my back pocket, in case it recurs before I can get them service-packed.  (Although I do not have confirmation that it was one of the fixes in that SP.)

    Thanks for your posts, everyone!

Does anyone know if this issue was fixed in service pack 1 that came out last week?  I did not see it in the fix list.

    Thanks,

    Jocelyn

This is a known issue that is scheduled to be addressed in SP1.  You can run the following SQL script to temporarily resolve the problem for now.

    Delete DYNAMICS..SY07140 where CMDDICTID = 1

It is possible that the error will return depending on how the user uses GP.  The above script would need to be run again if this problem returns until SP1 can be applied.

I have the same issues.  I'm on a hosted environment.   If I go into customize this page I see the blank boxes but unchecking them only works for awhile.  I didn't notice the issues before creating the test companies.  I didn't refresh them with a database backup from live yet though; only copied settings/data using PSTL.  I also had issues where printing a simple AP batch edit list with just 2 invoices never finished processing.  Of course all these things started happening while I was training a new client.

Have you submitted a case to Microsoft yet?  I submitted a case to the hosting provider but haven't heard back yet.  Please keep us updated if you hear anything.

    Thank you

Hello, I'm having issues with this again.  I was in my test company printing a check to the screen.  The check/report never printed.  After waiting about 5 minutes I finally forced GP to close.  Now when I log back into GP and go the the purchasing home page, I'm getting the same error again.  This time when I go to 'Customize This Page...' there is a checkbox for 'Cut'.  If I uncheck that box I can get the module home page to pull up but still everything doesn't show until I click around for a few minutes.

Any ideas here?  This is becoming a bigger issue.

Grrr.  As soon as I click OK in this window, I get kicked out of GP.  nNo time to click another area page.  Any other ideas?

Hi Julie - I have had this happen on the server and also on a client machine.

This is what I did to workaround it - hit the link to customize the area page.    There will be a check box there that is checked but blank.   Uncheck it.    Then immediately click to another area page.

See if the issue is gone when you return to the troublesome area page.

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for your response.  I'm baffled by this one.  Especially since there were not changes made to the system between when it was working and when it quit working.

I'm not useing the web client.  .Net 4.0 is installed.  There was nothing that stood out in the DexLog.  There are events in the event log...but not super helpful.

"The description for Event ID 0 from source Microsoft Dexterity cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

An exception occurred while trying to load or initialize the addin located at BIReportDeploymentGP.

the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

    "

I re-installed GP on the server and I am still getting the error message.

I also stopped the reporting services and I am getting the same error message.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks, Julie

I'm getting the same thing when I access the Administration page.  I'll try your suggestions.

    Thats a tough one!!

Are you using the web client?

What version of .net framework is installed?

Have you had a look in the windows event log to see if there is anything?

You could put a sql trace in the dex.ini file - delete the log just before you select purchasing and see if the log shows anything.

    Maybe disable SSRS?

    Ian.
