How to keep window size after closing AX

We have a couple of users that recently got new computers.  On their old computer when they changed the window size of AX and then closed and reopened AX their computer (Windows 7) would retain that size.  On their new computer AX always opens up with the same window size no matter what they change it to.  This all works fine with other apps like Windows Explorer, IE, Word, Excel, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc. just not AX.  I've researched this but can't find any explanation on why AX won't retain the window size.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Gary,

Do these users now also have Windows 7? Are they using a roaming profile which might be reset now and then? Or on the new machine they don't have enough permissions to save these settings.

Thanks for your reply Andre.  Both new and old computers are running Windows 7.  We do not use roaming profiles.  These users are not administrators on their computers (new or old), but where would they need permissions to?  And why does this work for other apps on their computers?  It's just strange that only the AX window size can't be retained.

    Hi Gary,

It was just some guesses as I have not seen this behavior before.

    Hi Gary

Give a try to open AX in a elevated mode.

    Change something?

    Denis,

Thanks for your reply.  For whatever reason we don't have the option to run as Administrator so I put the user in the local Administrators group but that didn't do the trick either.

    Hello Gary!

There are some things to verify and maybe find the way:

    1) Are the application version and kernel version the same? You can see this in AX -> Help -> About the AX.

    2) Are the problem happen with all AX's windows? If the answer is no, so you can try to clear the data navigation from this form. You can do this in System Administration -> Users -> Options -> Usage Data -> Form setup.

    Regards,

    Karen

Karen, thanks for your reply.  The versions are the same and this happens for all windows.  No matter what he resizes once he exits AX and gets back in the display returns to the initial setting.

Hi Gary, when AX opens, is the AX window always maximised? I know there is a "run" option available on Windows shortcuts. It's possible to specify "Normal window", "Minimised" and "Maximised". I am assuming that the new machines somehow all have the same "run" property set on the shortcut. This could be possible if their operating system was installed from the same image.

If that's not the issue, it might have to do with permissions on the new machines as mentioned by others. Have you tried to make one of these users local administrator to test this? Assuming that they aren't local administrator already.

The AX window opens up in a normal window each time. And yes I've tried to make the user a local administrator but that didn't make a difference.  The strange part is that the user can resize other applications (Word, Excel, Windows Explorer, etc.) and windows will remember that size the next time they open the application.
