Safely Purge/Delete all MFG BOMs - Any MFG-BOM Documentation Available would help

We have a BOM import process that is finally functioning as desired. We have a lot of cleanup to do now to make all BOMs consistent.  I can't find much definition on the MFG module at all other than end user targeted documents.

Our goal, is to safely remove all existing BOMs and reload them with a correct configuration. Is there way to do this without impacting other GP processes.

I basically want an SQL statement the performs the same action Delete Button from MFG >> Cards  >> BOM Entry Window.

Documentation on MFG SQL tables, views, functions and stored procedures, with best practices, would be even better. Info on how to update Existing BOMs, Add Modify Remove BOM Lines, Create New(archive old) revisions, and change other info safely from SQL that would be best case.

I know you want SQL but...

I created a SQL Script the created a Macro that deleted all the BOMs.  You could use Word just as easily.

Use the PPN_I column from BM00115 table to create a list of "targets."

I didn't have time to research all of the tables and scripts to do this cleanly.  You would have to do SQL traces or DEXSQL logs to figure all this out.  It can be done, it just takes time.

I will try this process.  I have never used macros before. Your post lead me to researching macro methods I found some useful info. I will post my results. Thanks again.

I went with the macro approach. This took two hours for only ~1500 records. This was only a delete, I cannot imagine how long it would take with imports.   I cannot believe how poorly documented the manufacturing module is documented or supported.  No eConnecect, no documentation, no support,... not fit for production environment. M$ dropped the ball here.

You are correct about timing.  I estimate it took me 8-10 hours to upload.  The BOM's were fairly large (thanks to Regulatory) and layered to a depth of 8.  I had to upload in layers i.e. Low Level Code 0 first, the LLC 1...LLC 7.  It went really well though.  I used my SQL approach and wrote macros with responses to Modal dialog boxes calculated in SQL.  The final upload (after 2 fails) was perfect coming up from a custom AS400 db.

I'm not sure if the situation improves in Dynamics GP 2015 r2 with the REST service (Web server).  Maybe someone else can chime in?
