Is it possible to apply the filter selected in ProcedureCall, Prequery1 or Prequery2 in Active report?

Posted on by

Hi,

I'm new in customising RMS reports, I just want to know whether it's possible to apply the filter selected in ProcedureCall, Prequery1 or Prequery2?  If not, is there a way to read or capture the values of the filter selected in Active reports or Crystal report before rendering the report?  The main idea is to create a temporary table as a source for the report but I need to capture the filter values in order to generate the correct result for the temporary table.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, now my doubts are cleared.  The reason I asked this is because I am unable to generate the report described in this post: community.dynamics.com/.../177011.aspx.

No, I agree with Spencer. Personally I like Access for reporting, as you can create tables for bucket reports on the fly and back it up with vb without too much torture.

I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but a lot of the built in active reports will dynamically construct a view before running a query against it. Item Movement History, for example. That said, the filters are applied after the view is constructed. I don't think there is any way to capture the filters as variables to construct the view in the first place.

You could try writing a batch file using osql  to query the database directly. Or python has a module, pyodbc, that would probably work.
