    Dear Sriniwas,

In a contract of carriage, the consignee is the entity who is financially responsible (the buyer) for the receipt of a shipment. Generally, but not always, the consignee is the same as the receiver.

Suppose: Your vendor is in USA and you are india. And you ask DHL to ship your material to india. And you convey the same message to your vendor that this order will be delivered to the DHL warehouse and DHL will make another shipment and delivered to you on your delivery address. And you have an agreement with DHL that they will pay on behalf of you and they will receive the invoice. And later once your shipment is arrived to you DHL will charge you the whole amount purchase invoice + delivery cost.

So in AX 2012 R3 you can use warehouse management to handle the delivery process. And you can use DHL as another vendor and address of DHL as consignee address and delivery address as your company address.

    Or

If you are dealing with multiple branch of a trading company. And head office can be the consignee and branch can be the delivery address.

Do you mean that this is similar situation like intermediate consignee? Whereas ultimate consignee and intermediate consignee both name and address can be specified in Sales order using delivery address type.
