POS 2009 logging off by itself after 3 top 5 minutes

a non-profit resale shop with POS 2009 installed on one laptop. After initial installation no issued, but really hadn't used it. When we went to set it up to sue it we start the program and after 3 to 5 minutes it logs us off and restarts the program. Cannot find any error logs or any setting that we might have missed. Any thoughts ?

sorry if I wasn't clear. It is the software program that is stopping and restarting. the computer stays on.

sounds like your power options on the laptop. Make sure you tell the system to not turn of the network adapters and don't go to sleep.
