Budget loaded in wrong layer

Hello,

I have added budgets data via budget register entries. As part of data entry, there is no option to select the layer.

When I run the command Actual vs. budget, I can see that actuals are in current layer (default??) but budget is in Operations layer.

Can anybody advise how this might have happened and how it can be fixed?

Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello DynamicsHampshire,

Only difference I can see is below.

If you select Operations in the "Posting layer" in Actual vs. budget report

It will show updated budget balances as recorded in main accounts for which main account type is "Revenue" and "Expense".

If you select Current in the "Posting layer" in Actual vs. budget report

It will show updated budget balances as recorded in all main accounts irrespective of any main account type. Which means; it includes all main account types including "Asset" and "Liability".

    Hi DynamicsHampshire,

An alternative is using the financial reporter to do the actual vs. budget control.

Irrespective of that could you help the community and post a new idea on the dynamics experience site that we have a missing feature / gap here in the system when it comes to recording budgets?

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hello,

You are correct, while doing budget registry entries we dont have the ability to select the posting layer.

When you post a Budger registry entry, the budget is recorded in all the layers as seen below

    Current

    Tax

    Operations

    ==========

    pastedimage1590854088053v3.png

All accounts against which actual transaction and budget registry entries are made will appear in the Actual Vs Budget report

As seen above i made a Entry in "operations layer" using asset and liablity account and it appears in the Actual Vs Budget report.

Please let us know if you have any further questions,

    Thanks, Kaushik

    Hello P.k.Kaushik,

Have a small query. Appreciate if you kindly elaborate this; would be helpful to understand.

As you mentioned in your post "As seen above i made a Entry in "operations layer" using asset and liablity account and it appears in the Actual Vs Budget report."

How did you determine to post this in a particular posting layer as we do not have any option to select the posting layer when doing budget register entries as you mentioned in your post too -- "You are correct, while doing budget registry entries we dont have the ability to select the posting layer."

Kindly let me know if I am overlooking any area in this case?

    Best regards,
    Sourav Dam

    hello sourav,

the entry was a normal general ledger entry which was posted using a jornal name whose posting layer was operations

as seen in the actuals vs budget for operations, i am able to see these accounts which belong to asset and liability.

    so as per my testing....

All accounts against which actual transaction and budget registry entries are made will appear in the Actual Vs Budget report ( actual transactions will be posting layer specific and budget entries will be common for all layers )

    Thanks, kaushik
