Portals for CRM on-premises

Does anyone know if and when portals version 8 will be released for CRM on-premises?  And if so, will an existing version 7.0 portal be upgradeable to version 8.0 or whatever verison it happens to be?

    Unfortunately this information is currently unknown. The current document regarding supportability of portal versions can be found here support.microsoft.com/.../3165165

    I'd keep your eye on crmroadmap.dynamics.com for updates.

    I have the same question as well. I'm pretty confident that a version 8.0 of the portal will come to Dynamics CRM 2016 on-premise, I hope so.

    On my side I need to see if the portal will look the same, because for what I'm seeing right now 7.0 UI and 8.0 for CRM online, UI looks totally different.

    Hi Steve,

    You mentioned that the UI in 8.x looks different than 7.x. Are you referring to the theme applied? If so yes it is quite different but please do note that this is merely a bootstrap theme that can be applied and removed with just a few clicks. We've changed the out-of-box looks a bit, but it still has the same bootstrap theming functionality.

    Another notable visual change is the content editing interface. In version 7.0.0022 of Adxstudio Portals we switched out the TinyMCE interface with CKeditor. The CKeditor content editor has been carried through into the portal add-on for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 Update 1 (portals v8.x).

    Hi Patrick

    You mention a URL saying ADX Portals v7 will support CRM 2016 on premise. Do you have more information on what CRM 2016 updates/service packs are supported with ADX Portals v 7.0.0021?

    The December Update for CRM 2016 will probably need support for the new authentication mechanisms?

    Hi,

    No what I means is that the entire code base and CRM customization are totally different. Microsoft rewrote it.

    Meanwhile, I heard that the version 8.XX will never be available on an On-premise installation. So it means that the only option, for on-premise we have to live with the 7.XX version.

    Hi Feridun,

    No 7.0 Portals is mainly based on IIS with code behind ASPX resources whereas the 8.x version does not allow any custom ASPX resources. Only standard CRM portal entities, JavaScript/ webresources are allowed. What is possible to use are liquid template which have some power.

    Currently there is no official statement or plan to provide v.8.x for on-premise systems.

    Any update re MS plans to provide CRM on-prem users a portal option?

    Such a big let down for MS to take this offering away for on-prem users.

    If you are an Adxstudio/Microsoft Partner, I would suggest you check out the "Adxstudio Partner Community" group on Yammer.  There was some recent updates from the partner call last week.

    ADX Studios had a portal solution for Conference/Event Management.  Does that solution still exist?  Seems to be no mention of it on the MS site. https://community.adxstudio.com/products/adxstudio-portals/documentation/end-users-guide/portal-application-guide/community-features/events-guide/

    This is or was on the CRM Online Portals roadmap, but I can't find any public documentation on this.
