How to Hide or Protect/Obfuscate customizations

I know this might be obvious but I've not seen any way in which I can protect or hide my customization code.

I can set customization level etc, but that is not what I really want as anyone can view the customization code by opening Customization mode at that level.

Is there no way to prevent anyone from ever seeing your customization code changes?

I saw one setup where there was a custom button/label on the Voucher Entry that was reacting to user screen clicks on a screen, yet there was no visible code for that button at any customization level.

I would like to do something similar (add a button with code that can't be viewed at any customization level)

If there is any documentation, pattern or best practice for how to do this, please share.
