Trying to load GP 2010 Web Services on a Windows 2003 R2 system. Windows 2003 is running SP2; I am loading Web Services from the GP 2010 R2 DVD.

When I click setup it begins to load but then gives the following error:

Clr method invocation failed

EC(31) HR(-2146232828) OP(16)
Unknown Error 0x080131604

Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.Webservices.Deployment.UI::Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.Webservices.Deployment.UI.EntryPoint.Main() [v2.0.50727]

There are no entries in any of the event logs.

So far I have tried:

Removing and Reloading .Net Frameworks (2.0, 3.0, .3.5)

Different Media for Web Services

Logging in as a different person with full administrative rights

Turning off the AntiVirus

Not sure what else to try. anyone ever run across this error? any thoughts?

Found the answer. Need to run Web Services from a command line:

    msiexec /i Microsoft_DynamicsGP11_WebServices_x86_en-us.msi /qn+ /l*v install.log SQLSERVER="<SqlInstance>" SERVICE_USER_DOMAIN="<Domain>" SERVICE_USER_NAME="<User>" SERVICE_USER_PASSWORD="<Password>" SECURITY_STORE="AdamLocal"

    Hi Brian,

I am also facing the same issue, if the "SECURITY_STORE" is on SQL SERVER, what should I use in place of "AdamLocal". I have tried with "SQLSERVER", "SQL", "SQLSERVERLocal", "SQLLocal".

Here is how to make it all work.

Open command prompt as admin (elevated)

go to the folder on your GP install media \AdProd\WebServices\x64 and run the following:

    Microsoft_DynamicsGP18_Webservices_x64_en-us.msi /qn+ /l*v install.log SQLSERVER="nameofsqlserver" SERVICE_USER_DOMAIN="nameofyourdomain" SERVICE_USER_NAME="nameofserviceaccount" SERVICE_USER_PASSWORD="passwordforserviceaccount" SECURITY_STORE="Sql" SQL_SECURITY_INSTANCE="nameofsqlserver" SQL_SECURITY_DATABASE="DynSecurity" SQL_SECURITY_STORENAME="DynamicsGPWebServices"

*** NOTE - YOUR USER NAME you are logged into command prompt MUST be in the "sysadmin" role in SQL or it will fail.  ***  You can take yourself out of the sysadmin role after install, it needs that role to create the DB.
