A finished Production Order didn't consume component

HI, All,

We are experiencing a weird situation and hoping someone can help us.

We are using item tracking with serial no and lot.  A production order was created to 'flip' an old product to a new one.  A user finished this production order but the components ( old product and other small items ) were not consumed.  This new Product was sold to a customer and we realized there is no cost of component included(profit margin is way too high).  We were trying to create a new production order to consume these components and sold the product to ourselves with 0 price ( so the components cost will be registered )  However, when trying to pick the component through item tracking line with serial no BC is giving us an error saying not enough quantity.  We then find out the whole components are stuck in Item Journal Line with 0 Quantity and 0 Amount( with old Production Order # in Document No. field ).

Did anyone experience this before or anyone can give us idea how to fix this situation?

Thanks

Chris
  • A finished Production Order didn't consume component
    HI, Kaspars,

We are tracking items with serial number.  The issue we are facing now is all the components which should be used in the old Finished Production Order are stuck in the item journal with 0 amount and 0 quantity. Therefore, when we try to create a new production order  to consume those items with the same serial number BC is giving us not enough quantity error.  In addition, the finished product from old finished production order has already been sold so we do not have it in system.  That's why we are trying to create a new production order to consume those components which should be consumed in the old finished production order.

    Below is our current situation,
OLD FINISHED Production Order # A-001
        Component - 001- serial # 1234A, Qty 1
                               002 - serial # 234A, Qty 1
Finished Production ABC001  --  Sold to customer with price $1000 and 0 Cost

    Current in Item Journal Line
Document #   Item No.   Serial No.  Quantity    Amount
         A-001             001            1234A         0                0
         A-001             002             234A           0              0

We are creating a new Production Order # A-002
Component - 001 - Serial # 1234A ( use Item Tacking Line in component and assign serial number but receiving error says no enough quantity but it's been requested by Item Journal)

Maybe we can 'force' deleting those item journal line so we can assign the serial number?

Can You share how does the old production order line look like now? Could be that when You registered the production journal, You didn't provide the quantity for components and just registered the finished quantity?
If the Production order hasn't been set to status Finished - You can still update it, and register consumption against it, that will update the unit cost, and adjust the profit for the sales already done of finished product.

If it is already finished, as this is more or less one-time thing, I would just do a negative adjustment of the components via Item journal, and adjust the cost of the new Finished item via Item Revaluation journal.
