We are looking for instructions how to set up dynamics on-prem for use with the HoloLens (Lay-out, Guide and Remote assistance)

We have received through BAAC a Dynamics on-prem licence in order to experiment the use of HoloLens for our students. and the implementation in the curriculum We get stuck right at the beginning in setting up Dynamics on-prem, and we could use some help:

I pressume, as Dynamics is an ERP, and it is on-prem, we need to set up a dynamics enviroment.in order to use the HoloLens in combination with Lay-out, Guide and Remote assistance.

1) Do I need a (virtual) server, and where do I find the installation EXE.?
2) Is there a step by step how to on installation?

We are two Educational Institutions in the Netherlands, so our ICT departments are not familliar with Dynamics or ERP systems in general

Kind regards,
Peter Smith and Ewout Waringa

    Hello Peter and Ewout,

Thanks for reaching out to learn more about using the mixed reality apps.

    A few points for clarity:

    1. A Dynamics instance isn’t required to try out Remote Assist or Layout. Guides does require a Dynamics setup, but it will guide you through the required setup.
    2. The HoloLens applications work with Dynamics 365, which is a Azure Cloud solution (not on-prem). Though, if you are looking to try out these applications without the Dynamics 365 integration, you can do that.

Here are some resources to help get you started:

    Hope these help!

    Best wishes,

    Sheri

    Hello Sheri,

Your answer was most helpfull. Just to make sure:

    * None of the HoloLens apps (lay-out, remote assist, guides, product visualize or import tool) works with the on-prem version of dynamics?

    Hi Peter,

    Glad the info helped.

We're always searching for feedback and opportunities to grow and improve product experiences for our customers; however, today Dynamics 365 Mixed Reality apps are not currently supported as on-prem solutions.

You are able to try out the Dynamics 365 Mixed Reality apps for free. I've put together a list of links to get you to the right pages:

    Kind regards,

    Sheri
