Embedded apps minimal license change

Since a few days our Sales Professional users cannot use embedded canvas apps anymore. Dynamics tells the users their license is not sufficient.
The embedded canvas app uses a premium connector to Dataverse.

When checking with Microsoft they stated that the licenses are changed; a user should now have a Enterprise license to use embedded canvas apps with a premium connector.

Really?

Because the license guide is not so explicit about embedded apps I wanted to check the community; is the Enterprise license (or Powerapps license of course) really necessary?

Thanks,
Elowy.

    Hey!

According to the Licensing guide from September 2023, users with sales pro license are not entitled to use PowerApps (of any type), only PowerAutomate

What probably is happening now is that there's an enforcement in place.

    Hi PerezAguiar,

    Thanks for your response.

I recall that embedded canvas apps have a different licensing structure, as they were previously included in the Sales app or other model-driven apps. In the January 2023 license guide, it was mentioned that "Embedded canvas apps within a model-driven app will not count towards the one-app limit." However, it's important to note that this doesn't mean a Power Apps license isn't required...

Unfortunately, it's bad news for my customer. They will need to purchase additional licenses for the embedded canvas app.

    Thanks again,
    Elowy.
