Testing for SSRS FetchXML Reports

(0) ShareShare

We have developed reports using SSRS and FetchXML available within CRM and needed to do some investigation into the possibility that these Reports could somehow be part of a nightly set of Acceptance Test scripts. Is there any suggested way we can automate testing for our Reports which are developed using SSRS and using FetchXML. Any pointers to tools, frameworks or how this can be achieved ?

Thanks & Regards

It was more like testing the results of the reports to see if the data is being returned correctly similar to the testing that we can have for plugins for example which can be automated.

If you use CRM OnPremise, you can schedule reports use Reporting Services, but there's no equivalent option for CRM Online.

One challenge when testing reports is the context-dependencies - i.e. the results can differ based on who runs the report, and whether it's run on a singe record, records in a view, or all records. You can manage these:

    • The user context is passed in the credentials when running the report
    • The record context (single record, view, or all records) is passed in the report parameters
