When I remove the configuration, no freeze occurs. Seems to freeze the instant the user tries to open an email.

Right, so it is CRM for Outlook 2013 running on Windows 2008 w/ Remote Desktop Services which is a supported configuration according to Microsoft.
It isn't every user who experiences the freeze, probably half, so about 50 users.
Hi Jo, are you running outllok in cached mode? sometimes the server resources cant handle this on virtualised machines, also check if those users have more than one mailbox?

No. No cached mode. The user just has his main mailbox and an archive.pst open.
