Opportunities Entity import error

An excel file was uploaded in Opportunities entity and all the existing records in entity just went blank like (title, account name, contact name etc.) just disappeared and a dashed line appeared in their place instead. (screenshot attached).2437.a.PNG

1) what actually went wrong here??

2) Can I recover the lost data in the future?

2) What security measures should I take to avoid data loss in the future?

I have the same question (0)

Hi, how you prepare your excel in the first place? Do you export it from advanced find, then fill it again using the formatted result?

    Hi,

Below are suggestions for your questions:

    1) what actually went wrong here? - This may happen because excel values are not proper or may be during the import mapping fields are ignored

    2) Can I recover the lost data in the future? - Better to take backup whenever we are importing data.

    3) What security measures should I take to avoid data loss in the future?-Better take backup of existing entity data.
You can use below plugin of Xrmtoolbox to take backup:
    https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/plugins/ITLec.RaiseYourVoice.D365RestorePoint/

    Thanks,
    Pradeep.

    Hi Sara Imran

If you have Auditing enabled in the entity, you can recover the lost data.

To recover the lost data use Recycle Bin app from Xrmtoolbox.

When bulk updating fields, make sure you delete the columns from the excel that you dont want to update (except the hidden A,B,C columns)

If the above suggestion worked, please mark my answer as verified

Did the existing record get overwritten?

Did you export the original data, modify it and import it?

How about allowing duplicate records and importing them?

You can restore the environment from PPAC. However, not only Opportunity, but all data in the environment will be restored.

Yes. I export the excel file with the existing data that's already there and then add the new data in the fields and then import it again

Yes it seems it got overwritten but like instead of names and values, the data fields are displaying these dashed lines. So the data has been replaced by these dashed lines idk how and why

Yes. I export the excel file with the existing data that's already there and then add the new data in the fields and then import it again

    I'm selecting no for the allow duplicate records option;

Yes looking into PPAC but I just want to ensure it doesn't happen again
