CRM channel of use

Posted on by

Hello all,

Is there a way to know from which channel did the user connect to CRM?

For example, we use both Outlook plugin, web and mobile.

Can we have a report for the users where we can get the information of where they connected from?

Thank you,

Alexandros

    Hi Alexandros,

There are two auditactions CRM can figure out.

    1. AuditAction.UserAccessviaWeb
    2. AuditAction.UserAccessviaWebServices

If access CRM via Outlook or Web App, it'll be recorded as AuditAction.UserAccessviaWeb.  If calling via Web Services then it'll be recorded as AuditAction.UserAccessviaWebServices.

You could use Application Insights to get more information about usage of CRM.  May be useful.

    Hello Nadeeja,

I have already tried this but the only information we get is 'User Access via Web' with the below explanation:

'The user started accessing Microsoft Dynamics CRM on xx/xx/2016 x:xx:xx AM through the web page or the Outlook hoster. Subsequent access by this user to Microsoft Dynamics CRM may not be logged for the next 4 hours. '

Consider that the log was one of fine connecting through a mobile device using the Mobile application.

Is there any other workaround anyone has proceeded with?

    Hi Alexandros,

If you enable Auditing (Settings > Administration > System Settings - Audit Tab), there's a checkbox you can tick called "Audit user access".  This will enable capturing of channel to a certain degree.
