Import Project Expense Journal with DM or Excel add-in

Hello everyone,

I'm currently trying to import a general journal entry using Data management or Excel add-in on AX 7, and I meet the following error:

Details: A row update in data set ExpenseJournalLines was not published. Error message: 'Write failed for table row of type 'ExpenseJournalLineEntity'. Infolog: Error: Project accounts have only one segment and the specified value W00000-02 has more than one segment. Things to try: • Make sure that the Project account specified has only one segment. • Make sure that the Project account specified that includes the chart of accounts delimiter character in the name escapes the delimiter character with a backslash character '\'.; Error: Error found when validating record..'

When trying to affect a subproject to the line (subproject ID: W00000-02) I use a backslash as indicated W00000\-02 and it still does not work.

In the form General Ledger module>Dimensions>Financial dimension configuration for integrating applications, there is no dimension format type that can be set up for project transactions.

Is there a functional workaround for this issue or does it need a development?

Thank you for any suggestion.

The import with General journal using Data Management is working for customers, vendors, projects that have the character '-' BUT you have to use the '\' before the dash '-'. Therefore for a project 'WP-001' you have to use 'WP\-001'.

    Kind regards

    Hello AnonX,

If you have the july release version of D365, you will be able to use the project expense journal line & project expense journal header in data management to import your journal entry.

Here is the hotfix that was issued by Microsoft: fix.lcs.dynamics.com/.../1218357;bugId=3803804&qc=98759ac924433484709dee287b85ec5a652dd7d9bf01e09e2bf910914d2d569b

    Thank you

    Hi Omar Ben El Houssain,

Have you tried using the project expense journal that is available in the project module instead of using the GL Journal for making your imports?

D365FO ships with a Excel import functionality also for project expense journals.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Omar,

Did you find a solution for this issue?

I'm having the same issue regarding the delimitier '-'. Even by setting the backslash character as suggested, it still doesn't work and it still thinks the subproject e.g. 'D00001-01' is a dimension with two segments.

    Thanks and kind regards

    Hi Omar,

You are getting below error message -

Project accounts have only one segment and the specified value W00000-02 has more than one segment.

I would suggest please check your import dimension settings again and also a dimension format activated for GL

    Hello Sangram,

Thank you for your reply, the issue here is really with the delimiter as soon as we use the "-" delimiter, AX automatically thinks it's a financial dimension, so when trying to import a project with a delimiter in their name example: Pro-0001, the import fails because it thinks it has too many segments.

    Thank you,

    Hi Omar,

This error occurs if we don't set the dimension formats on the same path you mentioned - GL->Dimensions->Financial Dimension configuration for integrating applications. You need to set a 'Ledger dimensions integration' configuration here. As per your data we can see 2 dimensions you are using so you can add these in this configuration setup.

You are using backslash character to make system identify a continue dimension value that is correct.

Secondly, still if you are facing the issue then simply you can create one dummy GL entry with dimensions and export same in excel and check what format it is exporting, use same in your import file. Hope this will help you.

    Thanks!
