Error 5000103 When Attempting to Run Reports

ReportReport

We recently performed upgrade to Windows 11 and the first time we tried to access our reports in Dynamics 365 we received the error message 5000103.  We are not aware of any changes we needed to make after the upgrade, but could this be what is causing our problem with our reports?

    Hi there 👋

    Thanks for your question!

The error 5000103 when running reports in Dynamics 365 after upgrading to Windows 11 could be related to compatibility or missing dependencies—especially if the reports rely on local components like RDLC rendering or printer drivers.

✅ Here are a few steps to try:

    1. Check for missing .NET Framework components
Ensure that the required version of .NET Framework is installed and enabled on Windows 11.

    2. Verify printer settings
Some reports rely on default printer configurations. Try setting a default printer—even a virtual one like Microsoft Print to PDF.

    3. Update Dynamics 365 client components
If you're using a local client or report viewer, make sure it's updated to the latest version compatible with Windows 11.

    4. Review event logs
Check Windows Event Viewer for more detailed error messages that might point to the root cause.

If the issue persists, consider testing the report on another machine or reverting to a previous environment to isolate the problem.
