adding controls using Tools for VB

Posted on by 80

I'm looking at the training for the VB Tools SDK for Dynamics SL 7 and I'm at the point where it says to drag and drop the custid field. I used tools for Solomon 6 before, and there was a Database Browse menu item. The training manual doesn't mention this, nor does it show were I'm supposed to drag the field from.

How do a get a Dynamics field onto my screen?

I was going to say if you change the view in the properties window to Categorized, all the VBTools properties display at the bottom of the list.  I must say I do miss the Dictionary Browse functionality.  It really helped to speed up development.

I think I see it Tony. I need to go back a few pages and start over now that I know it must be manually entered. There is a section that shows that. Thanks again!

Thanks much Tony. So then the documentation is seriously outdated. I got it from CustomerSource. Is there a more up to date tutorial, or document that outlines the steps? Now that I've dragged the controls, I need something that shows me what to fill in in the properties. It's been years since I've had to create a screen and I need serious refreshing.

There is no longer the Database Browse feature.  You now have to select the SAF control you want and drag it to the design window.  You must then access the properties of the control and fill in the required information for level, database field, etc. manually.
