GP2010 Dynamics Set file and Data Folder

I just installed GP2010 and noticed that the dynamics.set file that was generated indicates that some of the .dic files are in the /data folder, yet when I look in that folder, I don't see anything.  GP is working fine however.  In GP9, they are all in the main folder so why can I not see the files in GP2010?

Nice one David - always wondered why the data folder was introduced.

The first time you use the Modifier or Report Writer the custom dictionary files for that application will be created.

Due to UAC we cannot write to the Program Files folders.  The Data folder is a special folder with write permissions.  The Dynamics.set is just saying where to create the files when and if they are needed.

The Data folder was introduced with GP 10.0 to hold stuff like the dictionary files, notes and the Dex.ini file.  If you do not have any modified reports or forms you will not have .dic files for them.  All the unmodified reports are in the main application dictionaries (so for the GP product they are in Dynamics.dic).  It's only if you have modified reports or forms for the GP product that you will Reports.dic or Forms.dic.  Hope that helps.
