Tracking multiple opportunities/deals against one master opportunity

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello!

I am looking to track multiple deals or opportunities against one master/parent opportunity. Idea is to enable below scenarios:

1. Associate one product per child opportunity

2. Have different (and/or same) owner for these child opportunities

3. Allow user to progress them at different pace using the BPF

4. Roll up all the value of these child records to the parent opportunity.

I am thinking about the self referential relationship on opportunity. And a grid on parent opportunity form (depicted by a flag), to show the different related opportunities each having there own business process flow running at different pace. The parent opportunity however to have a more generic business process flow stages.

My question is: Am i over complicating this? Is there any other OOTB way of doing this?

Any idea/nudge would be great! Thanks a lot!

    Hi,

No, you are on the right track. If you have this requirement then the approach is best. There isn't any out of box way of doing this and I think your approach is the best way to achieve this.

    Hope this helps.
