Exporting Guides Content

I know this has been brought up before but the replies are vague....

How can I export the Guides content so that I can share with users to verify text, flow, images, etc?  I have seen some answers where it requires the Dataverse API or Power Platform however, no instructions on how to accomplish this.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi BobC_Chicago,

    Please refer to this doc:

Export and import Dynamics 365 Guides folders between environments - Dynamics 365 Mixed Reality | Microsoft Docs

Not sure if this is the right answer.  This goes between Dynamics 365 environments.  It does not dump the content to a word or powerpoint or other app so that it can be shared with users.  Most users will not have power platform app.  Therefore we need to present the Guides to them for review.

Hi BobC_Chicago, unfortunately we don't have an export function to something like Word or PowerPoint. It is possible to connect to the database directly with Excel, PowerBI, PowerShell, Power Automate, etc., but you would have to assemble the output yourself.

If this is of interest, I would start by exploring the schema on https://make.powerapps.com -- select your environment and then look for the Data section on the left-hand side. Guides tables generally begin with the prefix Guide (see list of tables at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/mixed-reality/guides/developer-entity-reference). Once you have an idea of the schema (post any questions here), let me know what kind of environment you are using for creating the output and I can provide tips on potential libraries or connection methods.

For example, in Excel you can access the database by selecting Data -> Get Data -> From Power Platform -> From Dataverse. In PowerShell, you can use the XRM Tooling library described at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/developer/data-platform/xrm-tooling/use-powershell-cmdlets-xrm-tooling-connect. The underlying database is Microsoft Dataverse and can be accessed with a variety of Microsoft and OData tools.

I know this isn't the ideal answer for you - but in the meantime I have recorded your feedback and happy to help if you want to tackle the export yourself.
