Attaching a hyperlink as a document attachment?

We store forms for my business in a separate document control application - I can use a hyperlink to reach the latest version of the form. I want to embed the hyperlink into a GP attachment so that my users can reach the correct and current form on each occasion that they use the link.

I can do it by embedding the hyperlink into a Word doc and then attaching that.

Anyone found a way to attach a shortcut (*.lnk) file or something similar that can jump the user directly to the link when pressing preview on the Document Attachment Window ?
